Cottons - Islington Description
Set in a cheerful pub conversion at the junction of Exmouth Market and Rosoman Street, the second outpost of Camden's celebrated Cottons restaurant has been a long time coming. There's a perfectly decorated restaurant on the ground floor, complete with its own spacious cocktail bar, where staff move to a Caribbean soundtrack and serve ample portions of updated Caribbean dishes.
A big draw is the basement bar, Rhum Jungle, where the restaurant menu is available along with live bands, acoustic singer-songwriter sets and regular party weekends. With a heroic rum list, about one hundred and fifty, it can get quite lively.

What a surprise when we went to Islington with family of twenty, for a birthday party and must say was truly surprised. After reading some of the earlier reviews and my past visit to this restaurant I was slightly dubious in booking, but now am glad I did. I found the staff welcoming as we entered and were seated in their rum jungle and they were very attentive (although we could've been offered more drinks instead of asking) but on the whole our waitress (Italian, I think) was very accommodating. Talking of drinks, the rum punch was excellent and the strongback was as the name says, strong! A big improvement to my first visit was the fast delivery of the food. My mixed fish platter was great. I even found myself loving the octopus! The singer who performed for us while we dined was excellent and the DJ kept us entertained thoroughly. It was a great night out for all in our party - Keep up the good work.
