Court Restaurant, The Description
Located on the gateway to Wales in the valleys of the Usk and the Wye this handsome house offers a menu which ranges the culinary spectrum and could include white onion and Guinness soup, followed by seared halibut with a herb crust and a light mussel jus tinged with Noilly Prat. To round off the meal a pear William and Armagnac bavarois with a fruit Feuillentine and Mirabelle. The menu changes daily. There is a well travelled wine list with a selection of house wines at £16.

We ate here as Valentine’s treat on a recommendation from a friend having only recently moved to the area. This experience stood out - the restaurant was beautifully candlelit, the service was friendly, but well drilled, and the food was outstanding. I loved all the little extra surprise courses from the Chef. Whilst clearly not somewhere that you would pop out to for a midweek supper, as a special occasion dinner this takes some beating in Wales, and for the money, beats everything we have tried when we lived in London - one to watch and very highly recommended.
