Courtyard Restaurant Description
Courtyard restaurant is an attractive new brasserie and bar in picturesque Kenmore, near Aberfeldy, at the very heart of the scenic delights of Highland Perthshire and just a stone's throw away from stunning Loch Tay. The style is essentially Scottish with the emphasis on plain, quality food where the local flavours shine through and do the talking, you won't find nouvelle cuisine there.
An extensive lounge bar menu is available 12 noon to 3 pm and 6 to 9 pm daily - liberally laced with Scottish favourites such as haggis, neeps and tatties with Aberfeldy whisky sauce, and a rich local venison and red wine stew; special diets are well catered for. A snack menu is also available daily from 12 noon - 5 pm featuring a selection of light bites, pizzas, and what they call 'hungry nibbles', they also feature an all day breakfast menu, a selection of homemade patisserie from their bakery and an extensive children's menu.
The dinner menu always features carefully chosen local dishes, such as medallions of pork fillet set on Stornoway black pudding, and oven roasted whole partridge or half pheasant. And, of course, a bit of a speciality of the Courtyard, is the barbecue, with a variety of local meats and poultry prepared over woods and coals in special recipe marinades from South Africa - a country where its barbecues are renowned.
Your Reviews of Courtyard Restaurant
Billy Harbottle (23 August 2008)
From the moment we walked in to this restaurant we felt it better belonged to the shores of the River Thames than the heart of rural Scotland. It was not only the very high prices, almost £13 a head for fish and chips, but the two or three folks with notebooks clearly using the wi-fi access that made this place stick out like a sore thumb in this quiet area of rural beauty. We arrived looking for somewhere to find a quick and simple lunch, so understood three groups who entered while we were waiting to be served and left very quickly after seeing the menu - there was nothing much simple and very little of good value. As for the fish and chips - even the pickled vegetables didn't lift this meal above a very average rating. This was not what we were expecting or what we were looking for when on holiday in this part of Scotland. I’m sure they can do better than this. Let's have a proper Scottish restaurant.
