Your Reviews of Cove Restaurant & Bar, The

Tony Holden (29 July 2009)

We have been eating there on a regular basis since Arty moved in after Kevin Viner and Pennypots, some seven to eight years ago. The location is lovely if the weather allows you to sit outside. Inside there is less atmosphere but it does have a contemporary décor. The food is always very good to excellent, especially the fish, which is cooked and presented perfectly. There is lot of colour, and good use of vegetables and sauces, and there is plenty of change and variety with daily specials. The tapas are really good sized starters or small mains. Lunch is excellent value, compared to similar food and portions in the evening which are more expensive. The prices are not cheap and the portions are not huge but freshness and high quality rather than quantity are much preferable. I highly recommend it if you like fish.

Rose Ashwell (27 June 2008)

We decided on the spur of the moment to eat out one day last week. The Cove were able to fit us in and handled our enquiry efficiently. We are both vegetarian and there were choices on the menu and also several specials of the evening. We wanted a light meal, having overeaten the previous week on a cruise ship.

We chose a starter of asparagus, balsamic shallots and Cornish blue cheese, but with vegetables and sauté potatoes, to make it a main course. It was absolutely delicious and not too heavy. The large glass of red wine complemented it very well. We did succumb to puddings with me having the chocolate mousse special and my husband the plum and almond tart. Both were superb. The Chauffeur's coffee completed the meal.

The staff were friendly and helped to make a very pleasant evening out. We will certainly be back very soon!
