Creelers Seafood Restaurant
3 Hunter Square, Royal Mile, Edinburgh, EH1 1QW
Established in 1995, sister restaurant to Creelers on the Isle of Arran, which opened six years earlier, this is wonderful example of what can be done to show off the excellence of the still reasonably abundant fish and seafood available off the coast of Scotland. They even have their own smokehouse on the Isle of Arran too, while Tim James has fished for many years, mostly with creels, and sources all the fresh seafood for the restaurants. They also have a farmers market stall in both Edinburgh and Stirling. The restaurant is well known for its freshness and simple approach to food, the menu has an extensive shellfish base but also caters for meat eaters and vegetarians and even features game in season.Established in 1995, sister restaurant to Creelers on the Isle of Arran, which opened six years earlier, this is wonderful example of what can be done to show off the excellence of the still reasonably abundant fish and seafood available off the coast of Scotland.

REVIEWS OF Creelers Seafood Restaurant
Jilly (11 July 2010)
We went here to celebrate a friend's 80th birthday. It has lovely surroundings and very friendly service. Actually, they stopped us from ordering too many salads - a great sign of honest service. We started with oysters which were incredibly plump and fresh. We thought they were among the best we'd ever had. The bread is beautiful, home baked and cut very thick - It was delicious. The wine, not the house but still a reasonable white was fantastic; we ordered more of the same! We had the scallops as a main and the special of languostines, which were served already, cut and were easy to get at. Both these dishes were fantastic - the scallops virtually melted in the mouth and the languostines were so good we were picking among the shells for more at the end of the meal! This is not to say the serving was small, it was a huge plateful, but so delicious greed took over! The service was perfect no pushiness but perfectly attentive. Quite expensive, but very worthwhile, and I believe you can get a cheaper meal early in the evening, and of course at lunch, which is when I will be returning, for sure!

The food was excellent, the members of staff were friendly, and the décor was nice; look at the fishy mural on the stairs. They charge extra for bread if you don't order a starter, and extra for vegetables and potatoes. There is also a 10% service charge for every customer. At over 30 quid a head for dinner, the extras should be there by default.
