REVIEWS OF Crofters Tavern
Pat Dunstable (24 July 2008)
We attended a friend's birthday party at the Crofters Brasserie and had a wonderful evening. The food was exceptional and the members of staff were knowledgeable without being pushy. I particularly liked my cod in a seafood veloute, sauce apparently, and will definitely make a return visit with my husband. Good luck to the new owners and keep up the good work.
Hotel Visitor (20 July 2008)
We had a disastrous meal there. The bread was frozen solid and the wine was warm when it should have been chilled and it still managed to take half an hour to reach us. The most disturbing thing for us was that the manager/chef presented us with a lamb dish that looked and tasted like beef. My partner is a butcher, he said it was beef but the manager/chef disagreed and said it was lamb. The customer service was appalling as I had to ask him to stop being so aggressive at one point and had to tell him that I was disappointed that neither he nor the assistant manager had even apologised - even for the bread and wine, which he agreed was poor service. After a stand off, we eventually managed to agree not to pay for the wine. However, it still cost us £80 for a meal where none of us ate at the same time.
