Cross Butts Stable Restaurant with Courtyard Rooms

Guisborough Road, Whitby, YO21 1TL

Sometimes great good emerges from even the most dire situations and farmer John Morley put this fact to use when he decided to diversify into the hotel business, following the catastrophic foot and mouth disease that claimed a huge number of his cows. Cross Butts, Whitby is a warm and welcoming place with simple but tastefully furnished rooms, while their restaurant offers a multitude of dining choices, prepared from seasonal, locally sourced and fresh ingredients. The wooden floors, oak beams and cosy fireplaces gently build up the serene ambience of a country farmhouse, with windows looking out over the Esk Valley providing magnificent views. Enjoy hearty and filling dishes such as homemade rich steak and ale pie, or the beer battered cod with mushy peas, chips and tartare sauce.

REVIEWS OF Cross Butts Stable Restaurant with Courtyard Rooms

Frank and Ailsa Sharps (4 August 2010)

We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary here and enjoyed a fantastic meal. The portions were good and the staff were attentive. If there is a better restaurant in the Whitby area it must be very special because this is excellent.

Mrs Lee (25 March 2010)

My husband and I have visited Cross Butts often and always had a wonderful time. We have dropped into the restaurant for lunch and also had the pleasure of the midweek deal to stay over. We always choose the room with the Jacuzzi, which is our favourite. The welcome pack is a lovely touch, the meals included in this offer are excellent and you wouldn’t find better anywhere else. Thank you Cross Butts for your excellent service and staff every time.
