Cross Keys Inn Description

Recently taken over (2007) by Tim Hamilton and Chris Prow after an extensive refurbishment, the Cross Keys retains all its ancient charm helped by the advantages that come with a major overhaul.

The overall impression is of a rural pub across the road from the church, with a keen new team determined to bring customer satisfaction in an area where the competition is keen.

A bar menu is popular with the locals as well as passers-by, and could include wild boar and apple sausages, French onion soup and a truly splendid ploughman's platter.

In the dining room starters from a regularly changing menu may offer mussels cooked in white wine with garlic and cream or slow cooked duck salad with watercress and orange. The old favourite of pork fillet with a Calvados cream sauce is always popular, and a very sound fish pie is served with green beans.

Follow up with bread and butter pudding with double cream, or a chocolate marquise with homemade chocolate ice cream and caramel sauce.

Greene King IPA and Ruddles Best are regulars, with a wine list selected from three suppliers, 4 wines by the glass and house wine at £12.95.
