Have been here on a number of occasions when overseas colleagues are staying in the hotel. The restaurant itself is rather austere, yet the staff seem to be very good, polite and friendly. The two main meals I have eaten there have both been very good, with a fair degree of technique at play in preparation and although I did not pay, seemed only mildly overpriced for a hotel with a captive audience. One trump-card the Crowne Plaze can play is outside dining in summer on the small patio with views of the hills, the lake, the tall fountain, and the A404. It certainly adds an extra something to the meal. The service is generally good and as far as I know, the restaurant is open to non-guests.
