Organic food may have spurred debate from all quarters but sometimes it's good to put these aside and focus on a restaurant committed to serving seasonal and organic produce. Crust Eat Real's claim to fame as the first certified organic restaurant in the Midwest was certainly not an easy task considering that they had to conform to some stringent norms, but the result was well worth it.

The menu takes in everything from salads, wood oven flatbreads and desserts to appetizers, soups and sandwiches. Flatbreads come with a range of inventive topping such as sweet wild boar Italian sausage, shaved fennel, provolone, tomato sauce and pesto, while the pulled pork, slab bacon BLT or eggplant panino sandwich make a interesting option at lunchtime. The boozy adult desserts include maple walnut sundae blending in maple-walnut liquor, crème anglaise and Jamaican rum or if you prefer to keep it straightforward it could be an apple pie or banana flat tart.
