I enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch there on Mother's Day. The food was excellent and the service was very efficient and professional. I had asked for flowers that I had had delivered as a gift to my mother to be placed on the table and the ones that I had ordered were there looking lovely. There were some very nice additional touches and all the mums were given a pumpkin plant to grow - great fun! The food was excellent and beautifully presented. We started with very tasty hors d'oeuvres in the bar with a glass of champagne and finished with coffee and petit fours in the drawing room. Much of the food was locally produced. I can fully recommend Nunsmere Hall.

I recently took my family to Nunsmere Hall for Sunday lunch. The food was good however, I will not be returning for the following reasons - (i) the restaurant was having its floor sanded so they put the five tables of diners in a small room that was obviously a lounge-library, which they had temporarily made into a small dining room. No one told us when we booked that the restaurant was actually closed for refurbishment. (ii) When we arrived we were led through to the bar for a drink but could not hear ourselves speak due to the loud noise of the workmen working on the new restaurant floor. No apology or acknowledgement was made for the awful noise. (iii) When ordering we were presented with a three course menu at £25 a head, different to the one advertised on their website. I asked if it was obligatory to order three courses and was told that I could order less courses and ‘we will sort it out’. I took that to mean I would not be charged the full price. Despite this at the end of the meal, even though quite a few of my guests had not had three courses, I was charged the full price. When I queried this I was told there was only one price and there was nothing they could do. In addition to being over charged for the food, they charged us £4.75 a head for a cup of tea (which added £25 to the bill) and £15.90 for service. Sunday lunch for five people, with 2 glasses of wine by the glass, cost £189.
