Thanks to the dedication of Susan and Robert Wood, the Cultured Pearl has become a popular Eastern Shore Japanese restaurant. Their passion for good food has helped them build a loyal customer base and a team of some of the area's best chefs.

Keeping Japanese architecture in mind, Susan has used bamboo, flowing water, koi and live birds to make the interior very unique. The sushi and drinking bar tops are made from a beautifully crafted single black walnut tree, while a 15,000 gallon rooftop 'lake' is home to different aquatic species and customers can dine there in raised gazebos.

The menus offer something for everyone to enjoy, from sushi to oriental and American cuisine. Consider starting your meal with a plate of saka mushi, littleneck clams steamed in sake, or a maple ginger glazed salmon. Move on to the house favourite of tempura shrimp; flavoursome maki, or sushi of say salmon sake, Arctic surf clam, baby octopus, and tilapia.
