Da Paolo Description
There is a lot to recommend about this traditional Italian restaurant, renowned as 'A village restaurant in the heart of London', it prides itself on its 'family run' feel, yet maintains an air of professionalism - but most importantly it has consistently sent streams of happy and satisfied customers home over the years since it was established in 1990, all delighted with its authentic Italian cuisine, at prices that are sensible for London, and the friendly, attentive service.
The décor with its antique furniture creates an intimate ambience, perfect for a romantic meal yet equally suitable for a business lunch; their set menus at lunchtime provide terrific value with two courses for only £14.50, and three for a mere £3 more.
Their pasta dishes are especially renowned, and can be taken either as a first course or a larger portion (slightly more expensive, but still only around the £10 mark) as a main, choices run to: pappardelle with with veal and oyster mushrooms; linguine with fresh clams; tagliolini with King prawns and cherry tomatoes; tagliatelle with Porcini mushrooms or open seafood raviolo.
Their private room is also an ideal party venue for parties of up to forty people.

We visited the restaurant after recommendation from the Rathbone Hotel. The atmosphere was good, however mains of steak and veal were dry and lacked in flavour. The waitress, was cold and unfriendly - we had high expectations of a restaurant charging such high prices. The tables were too close together which meant we could hear other people’s conversations. We were disappointed, asked for the bill and left.
