REVIEWS OF Darna Restaurant
Catherine (5 January 2009)
My friend and I went there whilst staying in London for a week during July 2008. We'd been past the place a few times and thought it looked really nice and cosy, plus would be something different to do. It’s lush inside, lots of gorgeous Moroccan light fittings and scatter cushions. We opted for perhaps the least adventurous dishes, I don’t remember what it was called but it was basically marinated chicken kebabs with rice and salad. There were loads of more, out of the ordinary sounding things on the menu but we thought we'd play it safe for a first visit. The food was lovely, the salad was slightly salted, which was a bit odd but I enjoyed it and the chicken was gorgeous, with just the right amount of hotness for me, someone with a more tolerant stomach might want to go for something with more of a kick. The service wasn’t quick but it’s the sort of place you can happily chill out in while you wait. We had honey pancakes for a dessert, which were really nice but you didn’t get much. In general the place isn't cheap but this is in London and a nice part of it too, so you'd expect to pay a bit. I think we paid about 45 pounds for two mains, two desserts and four soft drinks. We hoped to go back there again before we left but finances didn’t allow by the end of our trip. Definitely a memorable place to go though and some of the food others were having, such as sharing type platters in big wooden bowls looked exciting.
