De La Pole Arms Description
The De la Pole Arms in Wingfield is a free house where you can drop by for some real ales and delicious home cooked British food. As befits a pub in the countryside, it is dog friendly and where better for Fido to dry off than in front of the roaring fire in the colder months. For summer there is a south facing terrace, which is a sun trap from dawn till dusk so you can enjoy your meal in the cosy warmth outside.
On the traditional farmhouse type menu, typical starters could include tagliatelle and seafood cocktail with saffron cream followed by a main course of 9oz. rump steak with hand cut chips and Stilton sauce. The poached strawberry pavlova with vanilla cream and toasted pistachios beckons those with a sweet tooth and the drinks list includes favourites such as Adnams Bitter, Becks, Peroni and an excellent selection of wines.
Fixed Lunch

I went there once with a couple of friends and it was really nice. The food was gorgeous and everyone there was so friendly and there’s also a nice atmosphere. I can’t wait to go there again.

I'm with Charles in being a local drinker and eater at the De La Pole Arms, and agree totally in the improvements that both Matt and Trina have brought with them when they took over the licence from gastropubs a few months back. It is a very nice pub set in a pleasant, undulating countryside with good views of the church opposite. Pleasant in winter with a large roaring fire in the bar, also pleasantly cool in warm summer evenings. Food wise, it’s certainly reasonably priced for the quality and never had a problem in getting a table. Staff, though young are always welcoming and the service at the bar is generally swift and the quality of the ale, usually Adnams plus guest, lagers, ciders and stout have improved and are usually good. Overall, this is a very good pub to while away a lazy, sunny afternoon or to warm up after a chilly and wet autumnal walk. Note: the pub is in the middle of nowhere so, unless you’re local, you’ll need a car and preferably a driver too.
