Deeson's Restaurant Description
A foray into Canterbury could reveal historical structures, cathedrals and theatres, and if you want to encounter some good food and wine at the same time, then a visit to Deeson's Restaurant is likely to yield good results. A dining area decked out with unusual touches is a welcoming place for families with young children, and others as well.
The menu amply rewards the local sourcing loyalist since they use some of the best produce Kent has to offer, with starters revolving around pan fried herring roes with bacon, pork and chicken fillet terrine, and poached pear, Oxford blue cheese and walnut salad. Then it's worth seeking out main courses of roasted whole sea bass with a lemon and sage butter, and crispy duck leg served on a celeriac and potato puree. Familiar sights like traditional roasts on Sunday and fish and chips on Fridays are reassuring.
A host of neighbouring attractions like Chapel Down Vineyard, Hopdaemon Microbrewery and Gadds Brewery promise an amazing variety on the drinks menu.

Now we don't need to trek across the Channel for good food. Deeson’s was a wonderful find. All that we had long dreamed of - superb English food locally sourced, English wine and beer of a high standard, and friendly, polite, and welcoming English staff. At last there is hope for the future.

My Son had his graduation ceremony recently at Canterbury Cathedral. We booked Deeson's for an evening meal many weeks in advance knowing how busy it would be. They had kindly remembered and taken the trouble to ensure the area plus table was decorated with a banner/confetti I had supplied. The menu was perused by six but not all had starters. Three had homemade tomato soup, hot, flavoursome; my son chose pan-fried mackerel with spiced apple chutney, nicely done. For main course, three had chicken, which was cooked beautifully. three chose rib eye steak cooked to their liking although the tomatoes fried in garlic was not preferred by one, but ample fresh vegetables thankfully properly cooked, hot, not fashionably 'crisp or hard'. A pudding fest followed, two had house trifle, very nice, two had lush ice cream, and one had a gypsy tart. All had various drinks. The cost with tip £120; talented pianist and cooling fan at no extra cost. Nicely positioned clean restaurant, fresh food cooked to order; polite busy staff. Such a relief to find somewhere like this in 'fast food' city.
