Recently moved to a new site on George Street, Defune takes with it an excellent reputation for fine Japanese food. In the new restaurant you can order lighter dishes in the upstairs section if you're in a hurry or simply fancy a snack. While the main menu features delicious steamed prawns with melted butter and a superb deep-fried squid dish with chilli. There are also the classic sashimi and sushi choices that are excellent quality if rather pricey. Reviewed by Linda Buttle

I have been a customer for over 30 years and still believe that it is the best Japanese restaurant in London for sushi. The decor is not as nice as say Zuma or Nobu but it is still a great looking restaurant with friendly staff. It comes at a price, but who wants cheap raw fish. Excellent quality sushi and the cooked meals are equally as delicious! Highly recommended for lunch before/after Oxford Street shopping or on an evening out with friends.
