Deolali Bar & Restaurant

23a St. Mary's Row, Moseley Village, Birmingham, B13 8HW

This chic contemporary setting with bare brick walls and exposed beams is reminiscent of a laidback English club or even a charming bistro. But Deolali never ceases to surprise patrons, whether it is with the classy and minimal ambience or with the food, which is simply Indian. Look out for the Punjabi kofta in the starters. The shallow fried minced lamb patties blended with fresh coriander, herbs and spices are crisp, yet melt in the mouth. For mains, the saag muchli, fish cooked in rich sauce of spinach and herbs is an unusual contender and so is nairal, a Goan dish of chicken with spring onions, coconut and spices in a creamy sauce. Cardamom infused crème brulee keeps patrons coming back for more, while traditional favourites like jalfrezi, dopiaza and kormas evoke happy and nostalgic memories.

REVIEWS OF Deolali Bar & Restaurant

James (4 June 2011)

This restaurant has now been refurbished and is really superb. The ambience is divine and the food even better with a new chef and smart waiters. Great bar and lounge area - great for large parties. Very reasonably priced considering the style of restaurant. Great music and superior Asian dishes!

Power Pack Jack (28 March 2010)

The place is welcoming and spacious, with a dining area on two levels. The monkfish was excellent and melts in the mouth.
