Deveau's Brasserie Description

The Deveau is one of two restaurants in the Open Arms Hotel, a family estate dating back to twelfth century. Located in the picturesque village of Dirleton, between North Berwick and Gullane, The Deveau overlooks the ruins of the Dirleton Castle. With its light wooden flooring, and red and blue chairs this well lit brasserie exudes a cheerful and relaxed ambience with amicable staff and prompt service adding to the experience.

The a la carte menu consists of traditional fare suitably complemented by the extensive wine list. Wholesome fare like baked mushroom with red peppers and cheese or grilled haggis and beef Wellington appears regularly on the menu. One could also could enjoy their pan fried veal T- bone with herb butter or roast half-duck with orange and blackberry jus.

A nice way to end your hearty meal is by tucking into their fruit, bread and butter pudding or a sinful apple, raspberry and white wine crumble, among other the desserts offered.

Good and interesting menu. Good value if dining early. However, our second visit to this restaurant was disappointing. One starter (avocado with stilton/pear chutney filling) was bland and uninteresting. Main courses were fine but plain and vegetables uninteresting. Not value for money when compared to other restaurants in and around North Berwick.
