Start your meal with the kebab platter, an assortment of vegetarian or meat and fish kebabs chargrilled to perfection and served with mint chutney. Their batakh samosa with a sautéed duck meat filling is served with a sweet and sour chutney. Those less adventurous could try the dilli ki aloo tikki which are shallow fried patties of mashed potatoes with a crushed green pea filling, or the selection of crisp, batter fried vegetables.
Their tandoori fare has shell-on tiger prawn matured in yoghurt marinade and chargrilled and methi machchi tikkas or chunks of salmon delicately flavoured with fenugreek. The Allepey seafood curry from the coast of Kerala has mixed seafood in coconut milk and the thaaravu roast is tender breast of duck prepared in the Chettinad style. For a touch of Hyderabadi cuisine, you could try the mirch baingan ka salan which has baby aubergines and chillies cooked in a peanut and yoghurt gravy. Of course, there are the exotic lentils cooked to perfection in dal makhani or dal tadka.
These preparations can be relished, based on your taste, with a variety of Indian breads and a mild or spicy rice main course. If you wish to have a snack instead of a meal, do try their range of rolls and sandwiches. Don't forget to complement your food with their range of wines and beer.
Visit Dilli for an enjoyable and memorable experience.

REVIEWS OF Dilli Restaurant

We live in London and last week we went to Manchester to meet friends and they took us to Dilli for a meal. Being an Indian who loves eating out and dined in most of the top Indian Restaurants in London, I was not sure how the food was going to be at Dilli. But to my extremely pleasant surprise the food was one of the best I have ever eaten out side India. The service was great and the staff was very helpful. The chef came to see us and recommended a few dishes, all his recommendations were excellent. I would go back to Dilli on my next visit to Manchester. I wish they open there branch in London. Dilli serves real Indian food, it’s not your local Bengali curry house where you go for dinner after a few pints.

On Saturday my friend and I were booked for a meal at 18:00 at the Dilli restaurant, we chose them having read the reviews on their website and seen that they had several awards. Not unreasonably but our expectations were quite high. On entering the restaurant we were impressed by the smart layout and general appearance. However, on stating that we had booked a table we were seated next to the only other customers and already felt distinctly rushed. The member of staff who served us was eastern European who spoke and understood little English. He was obviously good natured but it made ordering so awkward that he had to get one of the Indian staff to take over. The menu was the major let down of the evening, my friend and I have been to many Indian restaurants and seen many menus but none so unfathomable as this. All the usual favourite dishes were missing, no onion bhaji's, madras's, vindaloo's, jalfrezi's, korma's or balti's. The list continues. We ended up having to get them to try and match up what we wanted with what they provided on their limited menu. We ended up with a bastardised form of a normal Indian meal, which I must add was found very lacking in quality and quantity. The curry was bland and the rice undercooked. I find it amazing that such a restaurant with such awards could be so disappointing. We ended up feeling that what should have been a treat was a dire disappointment. Needless to say we shall not be returning.
