Dining Room Restaurant, The Description

Chris and Lisa Astley brought a touch of class to Boroughbridge when they opened The Dining Room; Lisa looks after the front of house, providing pleasant and well-informed service, while Chris is in charge behind the stove. While we have classed his cooking as Modern British, in his case that is a fairly loose term, as the dishes wander all over the place, from bresaola with shaved Parmesan and truffle oil to boudin noir accompanying breast of corn-fed chicken with apple and calvados sauce. The wine list mainly concentrates on France.

Wednesday to Friday and Sunday lunch: reservations only.

This is a regular favourite of ours. The prices are very fair for the food which is offered and the food is always of a consistently good standard. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is attentive. We hesitate to recommend The Dining Room Restaurant in case it gets so popular that we cannot get in! As a food teacher, I thoroughly recommend the way Chris cooks his fish. Unlike many restaurants, the fish is always cooked to perfection.

I think they serve the best food and wine in the area. Their service is also the best.
