With an upmarket location at Guildford's most prestigious block of apartments, Dolce Vita Spanish Tapas Bar continues to set the standard with a stylish dining area as seen through the glass facade. Striped banquettes, colourful ceiling lighting and an attractive display of wine bottles set a pleasant tone in the bar.
The list of hot and cold tapas ranges from octopus salad with olives to mushrooms sautéed with Serrano ham. Delve into a selection of fish and meat tapas with dishes such as bonito encebollado, seared tuna bites or pan-fried chorizo in red wine. Dolce Vita prefers to rewrite the definition of tapas as the dishes are designed to share and may not always arrive at the same time, so the best bet is to come with a group to savour their delights. Try an Allozo Tinto or Chardonnay 2004 from their well-chosen wine list.

We went last week with a group of eight - this time to eat upstairs in the a-la-carte restaurant, having previously sampled the wonderful tapas downstairs. Being Spanish, I did not know what to expect, but the service and food was good. It had a wonderful feel, though it is large it felt warm and inviting, so thank God we booked. The service was very good, food fantastic and at about £35.00 a head for three courses and wine really good value. All of us had a great time, and were the last to leave! I recommend it to anyone, by far the best continental restaurant in Guildford.

Having previously eaten at Dolce Vita in the ground floor Tapas Bar, which we enjoyed immensely, we decided we would like to try the more formal restaurant upstairs. We were highly delighted with the experience, good food well presented without any fuss. The waiter discussed our choice of food and made suggestions to improve our satisfaction, which were welcome (he even suggested that we order smaller portions than we had in mind because their normal portions are generous). Elegant surroundings, very attentive service and when the bill was presented it was less than I expected. It’s an excellent restaurant.
