I can't speak for the review below but I have been coming for over 10 years now with my wife when we visit St Andrews from the west coast and feel I should defend a restaurant I know and enjoy. We have always enjoyed a warm welcome from the staff and have found the food consistently good - that we keep coming back should prove this fact. It sounds like your man there caught the place on a rare off day. Through the winter we prefer to be downstairs where the cosiness and bustle make up for the dreich weather but in the summer try to go for a table by the window upstairs in the sun. Our favourite is table 18 but you'll need to ask as it gets very busy. The Dolls House isn't trying to be a fancy dining experience, just a relaxed restaurant serving decent quality food at sensible prices - judge it on that and it should exceed your expectations. We look forward to many more meals there over the next 10 years, especially if we follow our dream and retire to St Andrews!

I have visted the Dolls House a number of times now, without doubt it's the best the town of St. Andrews has to offer. Food at the right price and quality, helpful staff, quick turnaround and in a fantastic setting.
