Don Fernando's Description
This Richmond institution is a real local's favourite and it's not hard to see why. Established in 1990, the Izquierdo family continue to serve good quality, authentic Spanish tapas in the heart of town, just meters from Richmond station.
The spacious restaurant is busy every night of the week and always has a lively atmosphere, but with a relaxed ambience. The staff are attentive and very friendly.
On offer is a selection of delicious meat, fish and vegetarian tapas as well as main courses and Spanish specialities such as paella Valenciana. Consider albondigas; sliced loin of pork; jamón and chicken croquettes, lamb cutlets, fried seafood, snails in garlic butter sauce and a mixture of scampi tails, scallops, cod goujons and haddock. Wines as well as cava, beverages, sprits and liqueurs complement the food.
Tasty food, well chosen wines and Spanish family hospitality all combine for an extremely pleasant visit to this family owned and run Spanish tapas restaurant.

It has truly authentic, Spanish cooking and a fabulous atmosphere and I felt completely at home. It's often hard to get good value for money in Richmond but Don Fernando’s never fails. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent and delicious and the Paella was one of the best I have eaten - and I compare that to the ones I've tried in Spain! I've been a loyal customer for many years and hope that this institution is here for many more years to come.

We can only echo Kate's 2002 review. We have been customers for all of eighteen years at Fernando's, and it continues to excel on food and atmosphere in its niche, that of a family restaurant. Not high brow or Michelin star style, but a real home away from home. The wine list shows some fine Rioja at very reasonable prices, and the rugby special on international days sets you up perfectly for the match
