It has been a while since eating there but remember it was wonderful despite being with some not so nice colleagues! Food was fantastic, ambience lovely, service 10/10. Pricey but for a special occasion would be a real treat. The restaurant is at basement level so be careful if you are in heels!

I decided to treat a friend to a meal at Dover Street Restaurant and a little surprised by the external look of the restaurant, one of the two windows of the restaurant it could at first be mistaken for a sleazy bar, but once inside the interior is very impressive with beautiful orchids on the tables.

We were quickly seated and our order quickly taken, however our starters came almost immediately, which was brilliant although perhaps felt slightly too rushed. I had a lovely Salmon fishcake to start with, my friend had salmon and blinis, although they didn't bring the blinis and she had to ask for them which was slightly embarrassing, and then we laughed when they brought one lonely tiny blini on a plate. Whilst we were waiting for our main courses we watched the next door tables which had arrived after us be served their starter, main and almost onto pudding! We then realised that we had never been offered bread, although the butter was on the table, so once again, as we saw others getting their food we were quite hungry by this stage so had to ask for some bread.

The rest of the evening was great though! The food delicious when it came. Although it was brought out under metal covers which made one feel like you were in a hospital. We were disappointed that the jazz band only played for an hour, if that!

All in all, for a restaurant that charges around £50 a head, the service really wasn't up to scratch. We really shouldn't have had to ask for things that they'd forgotten to bring us. And it made me slightly embarrassed that my guest had to ask for so many things.
