Drovers Arms, The

The Drovers Arms changed hands in May 2003 and is now run very personally by Arthur and Belinda Spence and their family. The Drovers has two non-smoking a-la-carte restaurants, there is also a lounge/bar area where smoking is permitted, this also has dining facilities.

The menu offers an extensive choice of dishes, all cooked on the premises, with fresh local produce, (no bought in stuff there!), accompanied by a growing selection of wines. Mains can run from beef and Guinness pie or locally produced sausage and mash to traditional fish and chips, or the slightly more exotic like chicken julienne or gambas a la catalana, and they have a blackboard with daily specials selected according to what is available locally and in season. They also boast an excellent selection of snack meals.

Their son Stephen is in charge of the cellar, and they vary their beers according to customer demand, but you could find Boddingtons and Castle Eden, as well as a guest beer. There is live Country Music in the lounge on Monday nights and various other acts on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Outside there is a large car park, extensive beer gardens, a patio area, plus a fully maintained bowling green.
