Durant Arms

I had just spent three nights at the Durant Arms. The room allocated to us was excellent, and it was more like a mini apartment. We had a kitchen, sitting room bedroom and bathroom, and all were spotlessly clean and tended daily by a very polite and friendly housekeeper. The food was very good and resident guests always had a table reserved for them no matter how busy the restaurant got. The breakfast was also good, especially the full English, which is not so full as to be too much. The bar stocks a good range of wines and beers and the "Tribute" bitter is especially recommended.

The Durant Arms is first class in all aspects, and makes excellent base for touring the area. Accommodation is homely and immaculately kept throughout, as is the bar and dining area. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes, with prices to suit. Yes... the previous writer is correct - in a way... It is not a village pub in that the place is not filled with cigarette smoke, and you don't have to push your way through a crowd of beer swigging 'locals' at the bar to get a drink. There must be something wrong with me because I appreciated the clean and fresh atmosphere in the bar and restaurant, and I am not at all offended by brown furniture. In fact any other colour would be out of place in this fine establishment, and the added bonus was that I even found a parking place for my Rover!
