Eagle, The Description
The Eagle is a Geronimo Inns classic with sofa, fires, room to sit at the bar, and a garden to bring a smile to the country folk living in London. The pub fits in well alongside some of the other wonderful pubs in this neck of the woods. The interior is classy with comfortable seating, warm lighting and a pleasant yard to be enjoyed during sunny days.
There is room to sit and enjoy with enough friends to recreate the ambience of a country kitchen table. Most of the visitors return to experience the urban mix of life, parks, inns and people.
The food combined with the atmosphere and philosophy that stays true to tradition has made this place popular among locals and travellers alike. The menu includes regular pub grub as well as specials that have the regular guests coming back for more.
If crab is your favourite then you can order the Portland brown crab on toast. For others the delicacies include crisp Cornish squid salas, spring onions and sweet chilli jam, char-grilled Herefordshire beef and gorgonzola burger with hand cut chips, spinach, tomato and gruyere tart with salsa verde, and slow roast pork belly sandwich with apple sauce. End your lunch with sticky toffee bread and butter pudding and selection of British cheese chutney and crackers.
The wine list is compiled by John Clevely, Master of Wine, and contains a good selection of both Old and New World boutique and mainstream wines including Pol Roger Brut Reserve and Fiano Mandrarossa.
Dinner can be an elaborate affair and you can say Hola as you greet a warm salad of chorizo, black pudding and quail eggs. The carte du jour lists several tasty options such as slow-roasted shoulder of lamb, olive and anchovy relish, bacon wrapped partridge, game chips and bread sauce, roast sea bass, fennel puree, tarragon, pine nut pesto, porterhouse steak, chips, maitre'd butter, mussels, cider, pancetta and cream, and deep fried mushrooms with aioli.
To accompany your main course you could order chips and sea salt, Secrets Farm leaf salad, buttered 'ratte' potatoes, and cauliflower cheese.
For dessert try muscavado and hazelnut tart with vanilla ice cream, chocolate brownie and lemon tart. For more information, do visit their Website, which also has details of all the other pubs owned by Geronimo Inns.
