Edwinns - Bramley Description

Bramley's High Street boasts of a beautiful 16th century building that brims with character and history and more recently, with a fair amount of popularity due to the Edwinns restaurant which is housed there. The atmosphere is relaxed, more bistro than formal, and the service is excellent and friendly, making it the ideal venue for a business lunch or even a family gathering. The menu reflects their love for fresh and seasonal food with no compromise on quality.

From the à la carte, starters of duck liver parfait with Cumberland sauce and granary toast could be followed by slow braised beef with horseradish mashed potato or herb crusted lamb rump with baby spinach and pureed carrot. The selection of desserts is indulgent, no matter what you choose, be it the crème brûlée or the pink champagne jelly with raspberries, lemon sorbet and butter shortbread. The drinks list is extensive, comprising a number of global wines and spirits.

Fixed Lunch

  • £9.95 (2 courses), Mon - Fri, 12 - 2 pm

Your Reviews of Edwinns - Bramley

David (6 July 2008)

I have been to Edwinns on a number of occasions over a number of years. In the past I have been pleased with things but today at lunchtime it was very different. I felt the restaurant looked tired and in need of a makeover. The choice of food was fine but all four meals were disappointing. The fish was soggy and poorly presented with two types of potato. There was another fish dish with batter but where was the fish? And the mushroom fricassee tasted poor. I would like to know if this restaurant is under new ownership or management. Something has changed and not for the better. Upstairs the toilets also have seen better days. It's not good value for money either - far too expensive for something very average.

Edwinn's is a small chain of restaurants and this is the 2nd of them I have been to. Both have been quite good, the service is unobtrusive and friendly and the setting is always great. (Added bonus of this one is Bramley itself, great place to walk around). I think Edwinn's really know how to cook meat and I have never failed to be impressed by any meat I have been served, the fish; however I think they still need some lessons in - or change their supplier as I found the seafood casserole to taste of nothing but salt and cream there was certainly not enough fish in it so also a little ripped-off. But to finish on a good point - try any of the meat dishes as they are exceptional.
