This longstanding established part of the London eating scene has been pleasing its customers, including many from the Turkish community, for over thirty years now. Unusually it even manages to creep into the Good Food Guide in its Round Up section; this is rather surprising as its speciality is kebabs, not normally regarded as fine food, however, everything is prepared in-house, and their kebabs, accompanied by quite a fiery chilli sauce, are highly rated, as is their meze. They also have excellent char grilled meat dishes, accompanied by rice and salad, as well as delicious hummus and taramasalata; all served by a cheerful waiting team. Great food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, a busy and welcoming place. We've eaten there for 20 years, taking the morning flight from New York, to arrive at Heathrow by 8:30 p.m. and head straight to EFES for dinner before they close. Our kids, growing up, always refused the airline afternoon snack, preferring to wait till EFES and recommended it to stewardesses.
Now that we live in Guatemala, the trip is a little longer to EFES, but we still make it there. Planning another visit this month; can't wait for the excellent appetizers and the selection of kebabs.

I've eaten here many times over the years. Full of media types of a lunchtime. Very good food and reasonable too. Their sister restaurant in Great Portland Street is good too, the fixed price 2 course lunch at £6.95 is excellent value.
