Ego Cafe Bar
Quality Square, Ludlow, SY8 1AR
Lurking amongst the gastronomic giants of Ludlow is the much to be welcomed Ego Café Wine Bar which merits an international label for the breadth of cuisines that it explores and presents, often with its own little flourish. Starters might include pork kebabs with satay sauce, to be followed by Turkish baked baby aubergines in yoghurt and garlic. As ever I would have severe problems in resisting the bananas, pan-fried in rum, followed by some of the best coffee it has ever been my good fortune to taste. All of this for an amazingly gentle raid on the wallet.Café, Traditional

REVIEWS OF Ego Cafe Bar
Darrah (18 March 2009)
While shopping in Ludlow with my mother, I came across the Ego Cafe Bar in search of some much needed lunch. Its location is in a secluded courtyard, decorated with a selection of plants which overall gives a lovely feel to the cafe. Inside, the walls are covered with pictures of early cinema stars. This was nice as it gave an interesting topic of conversation. I ordered a steak ciabatta with mushrooms and onions, and my mother had the chicken, mango and avocado salad. Both meals were very well presented and took very little time to arrive. My steak was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious together with the mushrooms and onions. My mother's salad was very tasty with beautifully ripened mango and avocado, which worked well together. We had a very enjoyable meal and would thoroughly recommend it.
Beard (16 August 2008)
We visited the Ego Cafe Bar for dinner on Friday and were very disappointed with the choice on the menu. As we were visiting from a distant place we looked on the internet for somewhere to eat. We chose the Ego Bar because of its sample menu on the website, which was really varied and it all sounded absolutely delicious. When we were shown the menu at the place, we couldn't believe it was the same as it was very uninspiring, we should have walked out there and then as we felt we had been really misled. The menu was more a daytime cafe menu. The pate for starter was fairly nice but our main course could have been cooked by a child. It was just not up to what they advertise it as. Something that really worried us as well was that when we paid by card the pin machine was taken away from the table with our card in it, which shouldn't be done. The whole idea of a card machine is that they are bought to your table so that your card doesn't leave your site, very worrying.
