El Parador

245 Eversholt Street, London, NW1 1BA

Parador in Spain is actually a luxury hotel, usually located in castles and historic sites; now if that arouses interest and expectations start to soar then El Parador certainly does not disappoint, albeit on the tapas side with genuine respect for ingredients. Opened in 1988 at a time when Eversholt Street had fewer restaurants and bars, and Spanish cuisine was still evolving, now it seems an inspired choice for those looking for classic, good value food in a discreet setting. The tapas list is extensive and helpfully divided, from grilled razor clams with broad beans and basil olive oil salsa, to slow roast belly of pork marinated with fennel seeds and garlic. Culinary democracy is not complete without choices for our 'no-meat' comrades and El Parador does well to cater for the vegetarians amongst us with dishes like chicory, baby gem lettuce and ruby chard with lemon and walnut oil, and a traditional potato and onion omelette.
