El Puerto Restaurant Description
In the swinging city that is Cardiff, El Puerto is well to the fore. Its key position in the handsome former Customs House in Cardiff Bay certainly helps and a steady stream of favourable reviews and happy customers tells its own story.
Whilst the cuisine centres on Spanish dishes this is by no means the end of the story and culinary inspiration from around the Mediterranean is cheerfully and expertly called upon. The impression given is somewhere between a 20th century brasserie with overtones of bistro, though La Marine upstairs will not only enhance your view but also offer a more formal dining experience.
A fascinating wine list, almost suggesting that HM Customs House did not make a clean sweep when they vacated the premises.

We went on Father's day but we are regulars anyway and it's a fantastic place to eat and drink with family and friends. The members of staff are friendly and attentive, and food looks beautiful. The only downside is that we take our 14 month old regularly and find it disappointing that they do not have highchairs available and a pull down changing unit in the disabled toilets. I can't see why these can't be provided as there are always lots of young families around especially on weekends and I'm sure this would be a big hit. This is the same in their other restaurants too.

I went on a Tuesday at lunch time - the weather was great, matched by a fantastic lunch in El Puerto. The staff were attentive, helpful and the food was exceptional. My partener and I had the chateaubriand, which was highly recommended by the staff on the counter. A great place backed by good staff.
