Since 1983 Elio Grossi has been dispensing Italian bonhomie, cooking and wine, not necessarily in that order, and has built up an impressive dossier of awards, as well as an admiring clientele. All the old favourites are here with some really imaginative additions ranging from baby halibut with pepper sauce to monkfish in leek sauce. Somewhere in the kitchen must be a frustrated chef seeking new culinary avenues down which to lead the more imaginative bretheren at the tables. All dishes are supported by lashings of vegetables, though the desserts can be a trifle ordinary. Adequate wine list and cheerful service.
