Opened on the site of a former butcher's shop in Leicester's West End, the husband and wife team of Tom and Cassandra Cockerill have been running this small neighbourhood restaurant since 2000.  The informal atmosphere attracts an eclectic mix of clientele, from groups of local friends meeting up for a drink, to food buffs travelling from further afield.

The food is classic bistro fare, but cooked with real attention to detail both in the preparation and sourcing of ingredients. Steak and chips come with a distinctive onglet sourced from nearby Northfield Farm, marinated in herbs and extra virgin olive oil before being quickly char-grilled. Seafood dishes include whole Cromer crabs from the Norfolk coast to share and crack at the table, while mussels are sourced from the Port of Brancaster when in season and served with rustic loaves of crusty sourdough bread.

There is also a bar and breakfast menu, particularly popular on weekend mornings.
