In the old days, 'es coc' meant 'the cook' in the Catalán language. Its chef and owner, Marc Vidal tells the story here, "For many years I had a dream, a vision to open up a gourmet restaurant in Santanyí. This house was built in the 1920s and belonged to my grandmother. The family lived downstairs on the ground floor and floor above was used as a warehouse. The house has been refurbished, at the same time we have tried to conserve as much as possible of the original style."

So with care, love and dedication, Marc has created an elegant, informal and homely space where customers can enjoy good food. Marc comments, "At Es Coc I try to update and refine the traditional Mallorcan recipes, as well as introduce ingredients that are popularly used today."
