REVIEWS OF Essence

Jenruss (2 September 2007)

We had expected a lot more for the price bracket. Restaurant smelt of damp when we had walked in. Champagne was flat, bread was stale, and however cornbread was delicious. Monkfish was tough as an old boot served on a bed of mish mash of indistinguishable flavours. My husband's lamb was much better. Baked fig dessert was rotten, pastry, poor quality and sauce far too tart to accompany dish. Honey ice cream was mediocre. For £30 a head for two courses expected something much nicer. Dishes need to be simplified and not showy so that flavours could come through. Only one other couple dining in restaurant on a Saturday night summed the place up.
