Delix is a very popular hangout in central Cologne. They serve light meals with wines to accompany most dishes. The cuisine is predominantly European and Castilian, although a more global cuisine is also featured now and then. A large assortment of international breakfasts is also available.

This building where this restaurant is housed is without doubt something special. Groups can book in advance to get a picture of what life must have been like 500 years ago at the harbour in Cologne, while actors perform in costumes of the Middle Ages. You can literally order Kölsch and bratwurst by the metre, something that is rather hard to find anywhere else. Real carnivores can order a Grillhaxe, leg of lamb or pork and enjoy it with something to drink. In summer you can sit outside and enjoy a view of the Rhine.

As a South American restaurant, this place has a very similar menu to that of Atacama, and is surely their closest rival. The meat and prawn dishes are particularly tasty, and tamales or banana leaves served with meat filled corn dumplings are also especially interesting. The cocktails there are noteworthy, and they also have happy hours where you can guzzle all you want at special rates.

Bon Ami is a small, acclaimed restaurant where the exquisite food and the friendly owner provide an experience that is indeed refreshing. Thoughtful additions to keep children amused are much appreciated by visiting families, although this place is rather popular with business professionals also. The compact menu features French and Mediterranean dishes and changes daily, while the wine list is extensive and complements the food well.

The Ratskeller is an exclusive restaurant in the heart of the Altstadt, in the Alter Markt. Although the prices tend to be on the high side, it offers excellent fish and imaginatively prepared meat dishes and their regularly changing menu provides plenty of variety. Despite its proximity to the old Rathaus, one cannot unfortunately have a good view of it, although the arched cellar itself is well worth seeing.
