Farthings is worthy of more than a passing glance - the only privately owned restaurant in Bournemouth to have two AA rosettes to its credit it takes great pride in close sourcing of ingredients. There is little doubt that in terms of quality food Farthings offers some of the best value for money in town. Start with the smoked duck served with a fruity salad and progress to the roast chicken breast filled with avocado and set on a mango sauce. Puddings are of a delicate but deadly nature and this might be an opportunity to introduce yourself to the Dorset Blue Vinney, a farmhouse said to have been made (originally I stress) by dunking old shoes or harness leathers in the milk. Farthings tends to hide its light beneath the proverbial bushel - be sure to seek it out.
