Heard this place had recently been taken over by a "celebrity chef", and due to the fact I regularly eat out at good class restaurants I had to give it a try. Unfortunately the service was not good. I do expect staff to serve with a smile and not have simple requests met with a sigh, as occurred on my visit. I chose the chicken as my main meal, accompanied by chips, onion rings and tomato. Two good sized pieces of chicken arrived, but the hand cut chips were too crispy and the onion rings contained too much batter and not enough onion. I was most disappointed with my meal, and quite honestly expected better. With so much established competition locally I do hope standards improve.

I've been to the Fielden’s twice within the space of a week. On each occasion, not only was the food of excellent quality, but it represented extremely good value for money. The menu provides a good range of options to suit all tastes and the staff were courteous and attentive at all times, without being obtrusive. The Fielden’s is now firmly on my list of good places to eat in East Lancs. Try it - you'll like it!
