felicini - West Bridgford Description
The Felicini chain of Italian restaurants opened its doors in northern England in 2003, and grew to become known for serving good quality modern Italian cuisine through a choice of menus all carrying the Felicini signature style of 'traditional classic with a distinctive modern twist'.
The contemporary havens are cut away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life with contemporary interiors incorporating dark wood, leather and mirrors. Each branch has a special style of its own, from being perfect pit stops for lunch, and favourite haunts of students, to places where you could enjoy a latte and watch the world go by.
The menus offers a range of tasty dishes such as starters of piatto grande di antipasto loaded with marinated olives and baby mozzarella, char-grilled chorizo, mixed bruschetta with prosciutto, tomato and basil and dips of hummus and spiced aubergine with garlic and cumin baked flatbread. Signature main courses consist of pan-fried sea bass fillet, slow-roasted confit duck leg, pizza and pasta, and delectable desserts like giant profiteroles.

We visited felicini on a Friday at 7.30pm, the place was quite busy with people drinking in the bar area downstairs. We then sat upstairs where we could watch over Central Avenue as we ate our dinner. Okay I know it’s not that pretty but better than looking at the walls. We had crab cakes and a prosciutto and melon salad as a starter, which were both delicious. As a main my partner had cod with an herbed crust and I had Nottinghamshire pork, they were both beautifully presented and my pork was fantastic. My partner loved his cod too; unfortunately we couldn't fit any dessert in which I was a bit upset about as I had seen the table next to us have the most amazing looking profiteroles. Our first visit but it won't be the last as I need to sample the profiteroles. I would recommend felicini to everybody.

I agree with the other comments that the portion sizes, especially pasta, are very small and I wouldn’t ever order pasta there again. The pizzas on the other hand are pretty good, but then the pizzas at the chain across the road are pretty good too. All in all, a nice venue but portions are too small and the pricing is just a little bit too high - they are charging city centre prices for what is at the end of the day, a high street in a town.
