Fifteen London
15 Westland Place, London, N1 7LP
With the sort of publicity that Fifteen has received, it is no wonder that the place is packed to the roof. It is the brainchild of Jamie Oliver and he is to be commended over this project. In 2002, he took fifteen unemployed youngsters and turned them into chefs - with every part of the painful process exposed to the world on TV - and sunk his own money into the venture. Since then the Jamie Oliver Foundation has continued to take on new apprentices every year with profits from the Fifteen restaurant going straight back into the charity. As might be expected from Jamie, the menu concentrates on simplicity with good quality, seasonal ingredients and strong flavours. The menu is Italian-inspired but often with a British twist or using locally sourced ingredients, such as potato gnocchi with a rich ragù of Cumbrian lamb and pork, oregano and Fontodi olive oil.As might be expected from Jamie, the menu concentrates on simplicity with good quality, seasonal ingredients and strong flavours. Fifteen London offers a laid back, rustic Trattoria on the ground floor, open for breakfast through to dinner, and a more formal dining room downstairs.

REVIEWS OF Fifteen London
Jérôme (12 March 2005)
I've been there on the 9th of March. I was drawn by Oliver's fame. I was not disappointed by the food. Top ingredients, nice presentation. Full of fantastic flavours. Taste menu incl 7 courses was top.
Rob LIckley (1 February 2004)
Oh dear! I have all your books, watch all your shows - I just so wanted to leave in the knowledge that all the bad things I had already been told were not true.
Unfortunately they are. The food is less than average full stop. Take into account the cost and prestige of the place and it is appalling. So cramped inside, dreadful service - 4 hours for 3 courses, a £150 bill and an unhappy customer.
Forget the money - I have paid more, much more, the difference is that I had a good meal on those occasions.
