Offering fine tapas dishes in a chic setting, the Fino Restaurant is an excellent addition to the London food scene. Created by Sam and Eddie Hart, sons of Tim and Stefa Hart, creators of Hambleton Hall and Hart's in Nottingham, two long-time regulars in the Good Food Guide, the basement restaurant consists of a sea of white walls and pale wood, made more atmospheric by careful lighting. On the menu you'll find a selection of familiar dishes but plenty of innovation too and the menu is rotated in turn with the seasons to make the most of fresh produce. Expect to find dishes such as crispy squid, chorizo with white beans, clams in a rich sherry sauce, salt cod and a host of decadent seafood options including Queen scallops, octopus with capers and squid wrapped with panceta and ink sauce.

There are also a number of menus for groups of 9 - 12 people, sharing dishes such as whole suckling pig and cuts of roast Pyrenean milk-fed lamb. Fish is delivered daily and comes primarily from boats working off the English coast with Fino favourites such as whole turbot, wild sea bass, and crab making regular appearances on the menu.

Diners can enjoy their meal either in the traditional Spanish style of eating at the bar or at the comfort of a table. There's also a good wine list and an impressive choice of sherry, making an evening here a very pleasant experience indeed.

You can eat as much or as little as you like, but I would be surprised if many could resist and opt for the latter.

I lunched here with a friend a couple of weeks ago. We went for the fixed price lunch menu which was perfect - great variety and plenty of it. Great wine list and service in a warm, lively environment. We will be going back.
