The Hope Station Building, now home to the Fire House Restaurant, is the oldest firehouse in Harrisburg and the second oldest in Pennsylvania. The extensive renovation did not wipe out the original design features like the exterior brickwork, sashing, window mutins and doors.

Step inside and eat to the sound of fire sirens, well at least that's what the menu is all about. At the first alarm, expect crab puffs and firebread, Tuscan loafs baked golden brown and slathered with garlic butter, cheeses and hot spices. The rest of the menu steadily weaves its way through a fireman's lexicon with 'the backdraft' where your choice of chicken, filet mignon or tuna is grilled and served with sautéed onions, brie and garlic aioli on a Kaiser roll. There's even a 'hook and ladder' where 6oz lobster tail and half a rack of baby back ribs are sauced in-house with a tangy BBQ sauce.

On 'throwback Saturdays' there are old-fashioned barbershop quartets singing and entertaining tables.
