Your Reviews of Firebird Cafe

Janice M (8 July 2008)

I could not disagree more with the other review and feel compelled to write my very first review of a restaurant. We have lived locally for the last six years, now moving to another area and are devastated that we won't be able to walk over to Firebird - a regular haunt for my husband and me with our friends. The restaurant is child friendly; we go with our three year old nephew and one year old niece all the time. There are lots of children there and all are treated very well by the staff. It is unfortunate that some people are so incensed by one incident that they allow it to tarnish their opinion of a very nice place, and subsequently feel the need to put others off - how sad. The food is not the best in Glasgow but it’s hardly expensive. If you are looking for a relatively low cost, friendly and lively restaurant with daily specials, and unusual combinations on pizzas, go to Firebird.

Andrew Jamieson - Greaves (28 November 2007)

I booked a table for lunch for sixteen people and at the time of booking asked for a high chair for my sixteen month old daughter. That was not a problem as - we are very child friendly here, I was told. I had to call the restaurant again as two people were unable to make the lunch and I made it clear that the high chair would still be required. Upon arriving at Firebird we were told that no high chair had been booked for us. There were some high chairs visible in the cafe but they'd been reserved and we couldn't have one. Eventually a waitress said we could borrow one till the people who'd booked it arrived. We did manage to feed our daughter in the chair but then the people who had booked it arrived and we were forced to pass our daughter around various friends in order to be able to eat the frankly mediocre food on our plates. One of them from our party in the meantime drove back to his house to bring a baby booster seat from his attic so that our daughter could have a proper seat for the rest of the afternoon. If that’s the most child friendly restaurant in Glasgow then I dread to think what the less child friendly ones are like. The only thing that made the afternoon a pleasure was the company we were with. Most disappointing, I would never go back to Firebird nor would I recommend it to anyone.
