FireHouse Description

Until recently you had to be a member to revel in the French-style cooking of chef Daniel Crow on the Cromwell Road. No more. Under new owner Alexander Baillieu, the Dining Room, a first floor restaurant with pleasantly rustic views into nearby gardens is available to all.

Daniel Crow is well known for the breadth of his experience within some of the great culinary institutions of our time, like Le Gavroche and Mosimann's. Released now from the limitations of catering solely for the needs of a private members' Club he is obviously a giant refreshed, working with a seasonally slanted menu placing emphasis on quality ingredients. Nor are his dishes over-dressed and he is receptive to the pleas from some of his customers for a few nods in the direction of familiar comfort food, witness Cumberland sausage ring with mashed potatoes and confit of red onions.

With house wine at £14.00 the average spend for dinner (lunches for private parties only) is around £36, decent value for that sort of quality in in London.

Your Reviews of FireHouse

Louise (26 August 2003)

Went for dinner on Friday night and the whole club had a great atmosphere. There was a barbecue outside on the terrace on the ground floor and have to say the food looked great.

I had a smoked salmon dish to start with, which was exceptional, followed by steak that was cooked to perfection. I could just about manage dessert - a crepe filled with fresh summer berries which managed to hit just the right spot!!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and all appear to have a sense of humour - which I find very rare these days in restaurant staff!

We didn't leave til after 2am as we decided to try and dance some of our food off downstairs on the dance floor!
