Fishermans Pier Fish & Chip Van

Raraig House, Raeric Road, Tobermory, PA75 6PU

Despite our politically correct age there is still a great deal of affection for the eccentric. There is something wonderfully eccentric about a chippy stuck on the end of a fishermen's pier, overlooking the bay where a Spanish galleon came to grief, and backed by gas cylinders. It is rather as though they are saying 'this closer we cannot go'. To those for whom quality fish and chips is akin to a crusade, this has to be the Holy Grail. The fish is landed straight off the boat and into the van, from which it duly emerges, to order, surrounded by quality chips. People come for miles, others just stumble upon it, all go away with the feeling of having eaten something as near natural as it's ever likely to be.

REVIEWS OF Fishermans Pier Fish & Chip Van

Phil Shimmin (3 February 2009)

You'll have to queue, for a few minutes whilst the ladies freshly cook your order. Scallops, haddock, cod and crisp dry chips, and the waiting sharpens the appetite. You can chat to other customers before settling down around the memorial to consume your booty. It’s truly memorable.

Rosie (17 February 2008)

We were on holiday some years ago in Tobermory. It was my birthday while I was there and we planned to cook a special birthday meal. A power cut halted these plans so instead we had fish and chips from the Pier Fish & Chip Van. They were absolutely fantastic and a real treat. We are visiting Mull again in May and Fish and Chips from the Pier will definitely be on the menu.
