Flaming Kilt, The Description

Families and institutions in Eastern Scotland have joined a small grassroots movement called the Fife diet to reduce their ecological impact by buying only local food, regardless of season. The Flaming Kilt has joined this endeavour by sourcing and promoting local produce and Fife food.

Nearly all their meat and vegetables are from local farms and fish is caught the same day. Amongst their many options, grilled langoustines with garlic butter, mustard marinated pork chops and wild boar steak might find favour. The Kilt also has a main course section for customers looking for something other than grills.

This establishment has one entrance each on High Street and the seafront, and customers can choose to sit in three different dining areas. Relax with Scottish beer and snacks in the bar, head to the more formal yet relaxed restaurant, or enjoy the experience of eating 'in the kitchen', while chatting with the chefs as they prepare your food on the open grill.

Your Reviews of Flaming Kilt, The

Janice and Tommy (29 September 2008)

When we arrived we were all set to leave as they said that we did not have a reservation, however, our name was in their diary and we were given a seat in the bistro section, which was okay. The food, although expensive, was very good. It would have been nice if the menu made recommendations on which sauces went with what. Also should say that side dishes were made for two. The atmosphere in the restaurant was busy and very good. House wine was excellent at £4 for a large glass. We would definitely return and request a table at the window next time.

Joseph New York (19 September 2008)

I was back to college with my boys and visited The Flaming Kilt based on a recommendation from a friend. The food was very well cooked, typically Scottish, which was a bonus and what I was looking forward to. I had the buffalo steak and the option to pick your own sides and sauces was an inspiration. I will recommend to all my colleagues at University.
