Named in honour of El Floridita, the place in Havana where cocktails took on a new meaning under the celebrated Constante Rivalaigua, Floridita London , the latest addition to the bunch of Conran new entries is well worth a visit - or even two. Reason? Well, to begin with the décor and design is spot on as you enter a none too little piece of Cuba, that celebrated Caribbean time capsule. Some ingredients are flown in direct from Cuba, notably the Langosta crayfish.
For cocktails, as one might expect, it would be hard to find a better selection with Nick Strangeway at the helm. Lest his ministrations prove too potent the stools are fitted to prevent aggravated loss of balance taking over. A fun place with food that's serious.

When my partner and I decided to visit Floridita in the heart of bustling Soho, we weren’t sure what we were going to find. Floridita is a based on the original El Floridita in Cuba. Deep reds, black and sparkling silvers denote the atmosphere. A well organised and professional staff, busily orchestrate the night. The cocktails of exceptional quality begin proceedings as we are seated at our table. The live entertainment begins - authentically sourced Cuban musicians add the Latin heat to the evening so to speak. Added to this is the real warmer of the evening which is my starter of sweet corn bisque. Massive depth in flavour coupled with good seasoning show the competence of the kitchen brigade. Followed shortly I am presented with lobster thermidor, beautifully cooked and tender with a fantastic sauce which marries wonderfully, and doesn’t steal the show, as is often the case with this dish. The deserts are equally as impressive in this restaurant. Warm chocolate with vanilla ice cream finishes of a fantastic evening. They have great cocktails, food and entertainment and is a must visit in the heart of central London.

Brilliant night! We started on the extensive cocktail list and between us managed to sample an impressive amount but still have many to try next time. If I were you I'd go for the passion-fruit mojito. Our food was brilliant and the service was amazing but the crème de la crème was the Cuban band. Awesome!
