Food for Friends Description
I have to freely admit that writing about vegetarian restaurants is not one of my favourite occupations, which probably means that every pronouncement I make from now on about such places, either way, will be regarded with heavy suspicion. However, one strives to be objective so here goes.
The menu is extensive and imaginative, farewell the nut cutlet (actually I used to like those) and F for F is besieged by its many fans. The Jerusalem artichoke soup is quite delicious as is the Jolly Green Giant chowder, once I had rid myself of the notion that it had anything to with a certain twin-rotored helicopter.
Yes the truth is that if I wasn't so hopelessly bigoted I could exist and probably eventually enjoy a vegetarian regime which is as good as this one. One immediately comforting thought is that the organic wines are very quaffable and Mr Weston's excellent cider will pull you through any time.

This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I have been to. I had the stuffed Portobello mushrooms, which were to die for, as was the gooey chocolate pudding with homemade Bailey’s ice-cream. The food was amazing and so was the warmth of the staff. I went early evening with my partner and eight month old child. For the first time I was made to feel welcome with a child. One young dark haired male waiter surprised us with bringing out beautifully sliced bits of fruit for my daughter to try - this was not on the menu. If you haven’t been there before then I would strongly recommend it and if you have been there before then you already know what I am talking about.

What a shame that this once bustling house of fine veggie food has changed direction and gone upmarket. Gone are the excellent salad bar, good value simple but wholesome fare - in comes pretentious expensive offerings form a confusing menu that neither inspire or satisfy. On offer was cream of tomato soup - at about £4 this would have bought you a good meal before.
Perhaps the owners can work out that they have got it wrong from the fact that the place was half empty on a Saturday lunchtime, whereas before you had to queue to get in! A sign saying please wait here to be seated gave us a good laugh.
Needless to say, after sitting down to look at the menu, we departed forthwith to the North Lanes where there were more down to earth establishments waiting to take our money and give us a good meal.
Very disappointing to see his happen to a business after many years of having a success formula.
